Too Many Ideas, Not Enough Action?

I still remember the time I tried to sell carrots. Yep, carrots. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work out. But hey, I gave it a shot. That’s the thing about being a visionary — the ideas never stop. Big ones, small ones, brilliant ones, and completely random ones that probably should’ve stayed in my head.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had ten different “game-changing” ideas before breakfast… but last week’s to-do list? Still sitting there untouched. That’s the classic struggle of being a visionary in business.

And here’s the kicker: no matter how smart, passionate, or caffeinated you are, you cannot do it all.

The Visionary vs. the Integrator

In almost every successful business, there are two powerhouse roles:

  • The Visionary – the dreamer, the big-picture thinker, the one who sees possibilities.

  • The Integrator – the detail-focused executor, the one who takes those wild ideas and makes them real.

Think Walt Disney (visionary) and his brother Roy (integrator). Or Steve Jobs (visionary) and Steve Wozniak (integrator). One inspires, the other implements. Together, magic happens.

When you’re starting out though, chances are you’re both. And that’s where things can get messy.

Why Burnout is a Real Thing

I’ve started four businesses: Aqua Legal, All Star Conveyancing, StacyM (my personal brand), and Confetti Finance. Sounds impressive, right? But let me tell you — with every new idea came a fresh wave of overwhelm.

Even now, I’ve got half-finished projects scattered around like confetti (pun intended). When visionaries try to be integrators too, burnout happens fast. I know this firsthand… I’m literally writing this with a headache from going too far, again.

Tips if You’re Just Starting Out

I get it — hiring a VA or integrator isn’t always realistic in the early days. So here are a few things that helped me keep the chaos under control:

  • Pick one idea and commit. Don’t launch five things at once. Finish one before moving on.

  • Use free tools. Trello, Asana, even your phone notes — get the ideas out of your head and into a system.

  • Set a weekly non-negotiable. Do one thing that moves your business forward, no matter what else is happening.

  • Find accountability. Whether it’s a mastermind, a friend, or an online community — saying it out loud makes it real.

  • Ask daily: What can I eliminate or delegate today?

These little shifts might not solve everything, but they’ll save your sanity while you’re building momentum.

So, Which One Are You?

Visionaries are meant to dream. Integrators are meant to make it real. If you’re trying to be both forever, it’s going to end in frustration. The sweet spot is building awareness around your role, then bringing in the support that lets you focus on your genius.

Because when you find the right balance? That’s when businesses stop spinning their wheels and start flying.
